Design Process

Websites are more than just a design; they are a unique portrayal of your brand. With every project, I set out to discover information about your business and formulate a strategy to achieve your goals.

Initial Consultation

Each project starts with a needs analysis where I work with you to determine objectives, timeline, and priorities. In this important phase of discovery, I’ll ask a series of questions to evaluate the direction of your site, examine analytics data for your current site if available, and identify sites of your competitors.

  • Evaluate your current site
  • Determine target market
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Written Proposal and Recommendations

Research, Inspiration, & Design

Copying a competitor’s site does nothing to differentiate your business. In order to create a truly unique web presence, I pair your input with my own research using various sources of inspiration that I have cataloged over the years. In addition to gaining inspiration from current web trends, I also look at other forms of art such as photography, illustrations, and painting that are appropriate for your brand.

  • Input to determine the look of your site
  • Research art and current web trends
  • Create design concept(s)

Site Build

As a result of the research phase, I’ll create a visual proof of your website for your approval. Once the design concept is approved in writing, I build your website using the methods that were agreed upon from the written proposal. All sites are hand-coded ensuring a fast and reliable website.

  • HTML or xHTML
  • CSS 2.1 & 3
  • JavaScript
  • Sitemap / Information Architecture
  • CMS or E-commerce integration.

Testing & Site Launch

All sites are fully tested in Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 2+, Opera 9, Safari 3, and Google Chrome. The site will also be tested to ensure usability with older browsers such as IE6.

Once the testing has been completed, you are ready to launch your site.
